What a pleasure!

Oh my, it's wonderful to be able to get on and read what everyone is up to. All is well here. Bethany and I saw a 6-8 foot alligator floating is this lake when we were picking up books for the book club Stan got us involved in (more on that in a minute), and it made us realize how tiny the little guy in our pond is...and made us more grateful for our tiny, little guy (ha ha!). Of course, the scariest thing in the water is the tiniest. There is this amoeba that lives on the bottom of shallow, warm freshwater lakes, and when the water gets stirred up by boats and kids wipe out wakeboarding (or just dive down to the bottom) and get water (with amoeba) up their noses, they get in their brains and cause this amoeba encephalitis. It has killed three adolescent boys this summer (within days of it happening) and there wasn't a darn thing they could do about it!

Dad, oh my gosh! That's the scariest lighning story EVER! I have chills, I'm not kidding! You are also very brave. I would have been running for cover with Bruce...may have even pushed him over to get ahead of him. Can't wait for Stan to read your story.

Speaking of Stan, he signed us up for this faculty/others book club (bethany joined and forced jake as well); the first book we have to read is like 740 pages. How cold is that? I'm kidding...a little. I guess we all get to put votes in for books. Should i do War and Peace for revenge? Nece, would the Lightning Thieves be a good one? I'm open to suggestions, readers, both serious and vengeful (suggestions, not readers...though I would love to chat with a vengeful reader...hehe).

Cody is busy with school and soccer...and is absolutely taken with ESL girls (English as Second Language). There's a girl from Brazil named Yasmin and her accent nearly puts him over the edge, I think.

Josie just started dance. The first day I called Julie on the way and burst into tears...I've never been to dance without my sister. I'll probably cry when I go tomorrow too. Since we haven't found her a soccer team yet, she just signed up for softball, which she has never done but she's very excited about it. She's hoping to get on her friend Megan's team. She did a great job fielding balls and batting, having never done it before. Catching (er, not) pop flies will come with practice. She's very athletic and very coachable; she'll have no problem. But if her softball playing cousins have any advice, please send it. She should find out what team she's on by next week.

Love you guys like crazy! And I'm so jealous of the Star Valley time...except the lightning...glad I missed that lightning!

Lana
